Nestaire is an Australia-based online store that offers a wide range of products. We’re known for our handcrafted copper items and our customers just can’t get enough of them.

Whether you want a copper water bottle or are planning to switch to a copper water dispenser; we’ve got you covered. But with copper comes questions. Yes, we come across many questions on a daily basis and are more than happy to answer them.

We’ve already dedicated a blog for some of the most common questions and this is our second edition. Here, we will answer questions related to taking care of and maintaining your copper bottles, dispensers, and mugs. So, without any further ado, let’s jump into the questions.

Question 1: Am I using my copper bottle right?

Answer:  This question generally pops up after someone buys a copper water bottle from our store. It’s okay if you’re not sure how to use it, we’re here to guide you. Follow these tips:

  • When you receive your Nestaire copper bottle, make sure you wash it water first.
  • Then, fill it up with room temperature water and close the cap/lid. Let it rest for 6-8 hours and then proceed to drink it.

If you’re not the waiting types, here’s a pro tip for you:

  • Fill up your copper bottle with water just before going to the bed. This way, when you wake up, you will be able to have it first thing in the morning.

Experts at NDTV suggest if you drink copper water before consuming anything else in the morning, it balances your Ayurvedic doshas.

Question 2: My copper bottle has started getting black from the inside. What do I do?

Answer: This happens with a lot of people using copper bottles or copper mugs for the first time. There’s nothing to worry about.

The bottle starts getting black due to oxidation (when you store water in it overnight). This is a positive sign because that indicates that the bottle you have purchased is pure copper.

The decoloration of the bottle or any other copper product you have will go away once you wash it. Please refer to our “Safety and Care” page to learn about the copperware cleaning/washing process.

Question 3: Can I store milk or juice in my copper bottle?

Answer: No, copper is only meant for storing water and nothing else. Other forms of liquid such as milk or juice aren’t a good fit for it.

These food types are of acidic forms, one having citric acid and the other having lactic acid. The acids react with the copper bottle in a negative way and may affect your health. (You can look it up online, you’ll find detailed explanations on the same)

NOTE: Nestaire does not recommend customers use copper water, mugs, or dispensers for storing anything other than water.

Question 4: What will happen if I pour hot water into my copper bottle?

Answer: Don’t do that.

Copper bottles clean water with oxidization. But pouring hot water into the bottle disturbs this process. Copper absorbs the heat, making it difficult for you to carry or even gold the bottle in your hand.

You can use lukewarm water to fill up your copper water dispenser or bottle avoid using boiling/hot water.

Question 5: Can I wash my copper bottle and mugs using a detergent?

Answer: We do not advise this. Copper is natural and using detergent or any other form of soap can reduce its durability.

We suggest you go for homemade pastes to wash your bottles. All you need is lime and a little bit of salt.

There are many other ways of cleaning it and all of them are natural.

It’s because of them that we’re able to offer a line up this beautiful. Go check our tableware range if you haven’t.

Question 7: Which Copper Bottle is Better – Plain, Hammered, or the Printed One?

Answer: You can choose any copper water bottle you like. All the bottles look super stylish in your hand. They’re sure to grab attention if you carry them at work or anywhere else.

Decorative bowls are often among the most useful elements of tableware. However, they are also some of the most neglected ones. Most people don’t think a lot when buying one even when they finally decide to do so.

On the contrary, there are plenty of things to consider when buying serving bowls. That’s because all those things give the bowl certain features that make it useful for specific purposes, such as serving salads or desserts.

In this blog, we will talk about some types of serving and decorative bowls in terms of materials, purposes, and styles, as well as some tips to pick out the right ones for your needs.

Decorative Bowls: Which Material to Choose

Generally, decorative bowls are made using the following materials:

Plastic Bowls

  • Such bowls are cost-effective and widely used all over the world to store leftover food or serve foods such as cereals.
  • Some versions are microwave safe but not suitable for ovens.

Glass Bowls

  • Extremely popular and versatile bowls present in almost every home with the ability to serve nearly all types of food and drink items.
  • Although glass is quite affordable, simple to clean, and feels good to use, it is a fragile material. It is generally microwave and dishwasher safe.

Melamine Bowls

  • An inexpensive variety of bowls found in lots of colours, designs, and patterns.
  • This material is safer to use for children as it isn’t fragile. Melamine utensils also uplift the appearance of a dinner table.
  • Melamine is not microwave safe but it can be cleaned in a dishwasher.

Ceramic Bowls

  • Ceramic has plenty of advantages: it is tougher than glass, looks more attractive, and is even more versatile when it comes to serving food.
  • Not only can you use it as a fruit bowl, but you can also turn ceramic bowls into ornamental bowls to suit your purposes.
  • Ceramic bowls are both microwave and dishwasher safe.

Bamboo Bowls

  • Bamboo is also quite well-used in utensils. It stands apart due to its biodegradable and eco-friendly properties.
  • These are considered best for serving salads, but you’ll have to wash them by hand.

Stoneware Bowls

  • Stoneware is perfect for everyday use as it is quite durable.
  • This material has a unique appearance leading to different patterns and styles.
  • Stoneware is safe for use in dishwashers and microwave ovens.

Fine China Bowls

  • Fine china provides in grace what it lacks in strength, meaning it’s more fragile than glass but much more elegant as well.
  • People often use bowls, serving trays, and utensils made from fine china as decorative bowls, putting them up for display.
  • Fine China bowls are generally reserved for special occasions by many people.

Earthenware Bowls

  • Earthenware utensils impart a unique look, feel, and taste to food that is cooked and served in them.
  • Great for both serving and decorating, bowls made from this material are significantly durable and great for daily use.

Different Types of Utility and Decorative Bowls

From dry food items such as rice and appetizers to soup and gravy-based dishes, different serving bowls are ideal for different uses. Here are some tips to help you make the right use of the bowls you like:

  • Salad bowls: Big glass or wooden bowls that make salads look more visually appealing. A salad bowl is useful as a fruit bowl as well.

  • Rice bowls: Bowls with lids that are often included in dinner sets. These bowls can be used to keep any hot food warm.

  • Pasta bowls: These are designed a bit differently in comparison with other major serving bowls. Pasta bowls are useful for any kind of pasta – conchiglie, elbow, fettuccine, spaghetti, you name it – and are styled to provide a beautiful appearance to your dish.
  • Stew\Soup bowls: Used on a regular basis by most people for serving soups or soupy stews.

  • Dip bowls: Small, palm-sized bowls with a distinct, curved shape that makes them useful for serving dips, fondue, and chutneys. They also make tables and countertops more attractive during special occasions thanks to their sleek design.

  • Cereal bowls: Made mostly from glass, melamine, or ceramic, these are large and deep enough for a fulfilling bowl of breakfast energy.

  • Decorative bowls: These are available in a wide range of shapes, colour, designs, and sizes. Moreover, you can turn bowls made from any type of material into decorative bowls for your living space – your creative genius is bound to make great use of these bowls to make your coffee table, dining table, workspace table, bedside table, or any type of table or countertop look stylish and beautiful!

  • Storage bowls: These are sold with lids and are mostly made from plastic. They are available in several sizes to help store things to place in the fridge or on the countertop, but you can also use them as decoration bowls along with serving trays.

  • Candy bowls: Give guests a conversation-starter with delicious snacks and candy served in beautiful candy bowls made from any of the materials mentioned above: plastic, stoneware, ceramic, fine china, earthenware, glass, melamine, or even bamboo, depending on your aesthetic. These are extremely convenient to place on any table or surface you want, too!

There are hundreds of myths and misconceptions regarding almost everything. Whether they are related to animals, humans or metals, you will always find one or more folktales and fables lingering to them.

Some myths are based on the truth, and some are just utter nonsense. Speaking of myths, several misconceptions are flying around about copper utensils like copper water dispensers.

For ages, humans have been using copper metal for cooking food, storing and drinking water. With the advancement of technology and modern tools, we have shifted towards plastic, alloys, etc. for the same. However, the copper vessels such as mugs, jugs, and pots are still in trend and so are the surrounding misconceptions. Today, we are going to debunk all those –

Common Copper Myths and the Reality Behind it

First and foremost, copper is essential for the human body. As our human body does not produce copper on its own and we must outsource it from other means. Drinking water with copper jugs is quite easy and effective to fulfill everyday copper requirements in our body.

Our eastern ancestors adopted a healthy lifestyle for ages, now scientists also approved the core benefits of drinking copper water. People around the world are still misguided by the false information about copper. However. This is not true and we are going to prove it. Let’s discuss the most talked myths about copper –

1 – Copper Water is Harmful if Consumed

The most widespread myth about copper is that copper water is toxic to the human body. We do not deny the existence of copper toxicity and its effects on the body. But have you ever wondered why it happens? Corrosion in the pipelines is the primary reason behind copper toxicity (acidic content in water leads to corrosion).

Now, if you think carefully, it all depends on how you drink copper water. Suppose you have a copper water dispenser in your kitchen, you clean and fill fresh water every day. Cleaning your copper utensils regularly and properly is important. If there is no sign of corrosion or rust on the surface of the pot, then you can enjoy all the benefits without worrying about toxicity.

2 – Easily Get Stained and Hard to Clean

Not just copper, any metal gets stationed easily with patches if you store water in them. Whether it’s a copper bottle or plastic bottle, they both get stained one way or another. The only solution is regular cleaning, but it’s not that simple with copper bottles, they require special treatment. For instance, you can clean a steel bottle or plastic bottle with anything you desire, but you can not do the same with a copper one. There are cleaning products available in the market specifically made to clean copper utensils.

As you can see, copper items are easy to clean, they just require some extra love, that’s all. And with so many health benefits, we can at least make a few efforts, can’t we?

3 – Not Everyone Can Afford Them Because They Are Expensive

Copper utensils are as expensive as other similar items available in the market. However, the quality can make a difference, despite that, they are affordable and reachable to most people. Suppose you want to buy a mug and have two options – silver and copper. Considering they are both made of genuine metal and have the same pattern. The price might differ slightly depending on the brand and the choice depends on person to person.

4 – There is No Need For a Copper Mug for Moscow Mule

Moscow mule is a cocktail traditionally served in copper mugs. They say sipping the cocktail in copper mugs gives the best taste possible. Sure, you are free to experiment and try it however you want, but copper mugs and Moscow mule go hand-in-hand, there is no exception.

5 – Copper Dangerous for Pregnant Women

Well, anything is dangerous if consumed more than needed, the same goes with copper content. Taking it in a vast amount is harmful if you are pregnant or not. But since bearing a child is not a joke, it is better to take advice from a doctor.

Studies state that copper helps pregnant ladies in a big way. A childbearing lady needs more blood than a normal female and copper helps in the formation of red blood cells and the baby’s development. It also assists our body in regulating blood pressure. In normal circumstances, it is not harmful to women.

Copper-infused water is essential for us as it keeps our immunity strong, aids in digestion, makes us smarter and what not. Lack of copper content in our body, however, leads to bone disorders, anaemia, high cholesterol levels, etc. Just because there is a belief floating around, we do not need to sacrifice such an opportunity to get fit.
